Our approach to Portrait photographyA good portrait captures the essence of its subject. For that reason we always remember that a portrait session, whether it is for a professional portfolio, a formal occasion or simply a birthday treat, is about you. Whatever your requirements, we will discuss them with you in advance in order to try and establish what you wish to get from the experience. Not all portraits are about capturing the physical appearance of the subject: for many, the experience is about capturing a mood or a character trait. Working closely with you allows us to deliver the kind of images you want and deserve. |  |
| Portrait photography servicesAlthough we can provide a standard studio portrait service, we feel that true portraits often capture the individual through a setting and a process that is relaxed, informal and entertaining. Throughout the whole process, we never lose sight of the fact that a portraiture session is about photographing people as living, animated beings and not as lifeless models to be posed for the convenience of the photographer. You are, therefore, warmly encouraged to bring along any objects that have some special significance for you and that you feel would add something to the finished portrait, whether it be a musical instrument, sporting equipment or a favourite toy. |

Although we have studio facilities in Cambridge and London, predominantly we like to work on location. The most exiting portraiture is often created in informal locations, often outdoors. The subtle effects that light and composition can bring about, when added to the unique atmosphere of a well-chosen location, are often what transform a run-of-the-mill photograph into a unique and enduring image that you will treasure. Such locations imbue the image with more context and meaning, especially when the location you have chosen brings with it memories which a photograph is uniquely well placed to capture or refresh. We are entirely happy to work in any location that you way wish to choose, so please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements or, if you prefer, we can suggest some locations that we have found in the past to be wonderful backdrops for memorable photographs. |
